Field Advances Past MAC Foe Cloverleaf in Disitrict Semifinal

Brimfield, OH- The Field Falcons advanced in the OHSAA Baseball tournament thanks to a 6-2 victory over Cloverleaf on Tuesday evening. It was a relatively even match through much of the early going, with Field taking an advantage they wouldn’t relinquish in the bottom of the 2nd when they plated two to take a 3-1 advantage.

The visiting Colts were able to keep it close through 3 innings of play before the Falcons tacked one on in the bottom of the 4th to extend their lead to 4-2. That is what the score would remain until the Falcons scored two more insurance runs in the home half of the 6th. James Roberts earned the win on the mound for the Falcons, while Senior Caden Kolesar came on with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief to seal the deal.

Offensively, every Falcons starter recorded one hit apiece, as they ended the game with 9 hits, all singles. It was a few Colts mishaps that opened the door for a few runs, coupled with aggressive baserunning, namely by Senior Joey Conroy. The Falcons advance to the district finals on Thursday evening at Louisville High School, where they will meet Cardinal Mooney.
