Field Falcons outlast Ravenna 14-13 in regular season finale
BRIMFIELD, OH- It was the final week of the High School football regular season on Friday night across the state of Ohio. At Kenneth Lohr Stadium a pair of Portage County teams from the MAC Conference went to battle looking to end their seasons on a positive note. The Field Falcons would hold off a potential late game winning drive by Ravenna and take home the 14-13 win.
The Falcons would start off with a successful 9 play, 56 yard drive following a 27-yard kick return. Alex Williams dashed around the left side for a 13-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. The two point try was successful and Field jumped out to an 8-0 lead.

Ravenna could not take advantage of a 15-yard pass interference penalty that moved them into Falcons territory. They would turn the ball over on downs after not converting a first down on four plays.
Field would put together another long drive on their second possession including several runs by freshman quarterback Mason Fulst that carried into the 2nd quarter. They would take the ball down to the Ravens 15 yard line before an incomplete pass by Fulst turned it over to Ravenna.
The Ravens again could not take advantage of a big penalty, gaining 15 yards on a personal foul call against the Falcons. They would lose 16 yards in two plays and be forced to punt the ball away.
The first mistake of the game came on Field’s next possession as a fumble was recovered by the Ravens Demere Tatum and returned to the Falcons 39 yard line. Ravenna would take full advantage. After three straight Mark Miller runs gaining 25 yards and a personal foul penalty against Field, Ladarion Askew took it in from 7-yards out for the first Ravenna score. Jose Carpenter nailed the PAT to make it an 8-7 game with 5:49 to play in the half.

On the Falcons next possession Ravenna would force their second straight turnover as Isaac McGuigan picked off a Fulst pass and return it to the Falcons 41 yard line. Four plays later the Falcons would stuff CJ Ross up the middle on 4th down for the turnover on downs.
The Falcons were unable to put any more points on the board their last possession of the half as they took an 8-7 lead into halftime.

Ravenna started the 2nd half with a 22-yard run by Askew. They were unable to move the ball any further. Jose Carpenter would attempt a 43-yard field goal that came up well short.
Field would then put together a nine plus minute drive going 80 yards in 17 plays capped off by a 1-yard Fulst touchdown run to begin the 4th quarter. The two point attempt was unsuccessful and they held a 14-7 lead over the Ravens.

Ravenna would answer right back when Ross found McGuigan over the middle for a 35-yard touchdown pass. The two point conversion was no good leaving Ravenna trailing the Falcons 14-13 with 8:02 left.
The Ravens defense would hold the Falcons giving Ravenna a chance to take the lead with 5:31 left on the game clock. The Ravens would commit their first turnover of the game at a critical time as CJ Ross fumbled a bad snap that was recovered by the Falcons Trenton Malone at the 27 yard line.
Field would run three plus minutes off the clock before Ravenna would use their three timeouts and hold the Falcons who dropped a would be game clinching touchdown pass in the end zone on 4th and 7 giving the ball back to Ravenna at the 13 yard line.
Following two straight Ross completions to Bradley Davis and Isaac Thompson gained 21 yards, three straight incompletions left them with a 4th and 10. Ross would then execute an impressive 30-yard run getting out of bounds at the Falcons 36 yard line stopping the clock with 26 seconds remaining. A Ross pass to McGuigan went for 9 yards before a spiked ball and incompletion left them with a 4th and 1 and only 4 seconds on the clock. Jose Carpenter came on to attempt a game winning 43-yard field goal that fell just short as time expired.
Field survived the 14-13 win to end their season on a high note. Mason Fulst rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown earning the R&S Landscaping & Excavating Player of the Game Award. Both teams end their seasons at 3-7.
