Garfield routs Southeast 48-10 as Moser picks up win #100
GARRETTSVILLE, OH- It was Homecoming night at JAG Field where the Garfield G-MEN played host to their Portage County and MVAC rival Southeast Pirates. Garfield took last season’s matchup 42-7 at Southeast. They would repeat again this season running away with a 48-10 win.
Southeast would receive the opening kickoff to get this one started. They were able to move the ball into G-MEN territory with a slow paced drive that ate up nearly eight minutes of the 1st quarter clock. It would stall at the Garfield 36-yard line after a false start penalty and a run for a loss on 3rd down forcing a punt that was downed at the G-MEN 5-yard line.
Garfield wasted no time kicking their potent rushing attack into high gear. On the fourth play of the possession Brandyn Bogucki broke off a big 72 yard run down to the Pirates 10-yard line. From there it was backfield mate Ryder Cain who scored from 10 yards out. Hannah Timmons PAT made it a 7-0 lead with 2:15 to play in the 1st.

The G-MEN defense then put on a dominant 3 and out stoppage of the Pirates. A first down sack by Jack Timmons for a 3-yard loss, an incompletion and a Henry Veccia sack for a 5-yard loss forced a third straight Pirates punt.
The G-MEN would give it right back as Cain fumbled after a 13-yard gain giving the ball to Southeast at their 44-yard line. The Pirates would finally convert a score putting together a 51 yard drive that ended with quarterback Joe Sharish running it in from 35 yards out. The Tristan Finch PAT cut the G-MEN lead to 13-7 with 3:01 to play in the half.
Again the G-MEN would strike back. An 19-yard run by Devin Bates and a 9-yard run by Cain setup a field reversing 31-yard touchdown run by Brandyn Bogucki. They would convert a successful two-point conversion to open up a 21-7 lead with 43 seconds to play in the half.
