Aurora Greenmen 2026 Softball Preview

Team name: Aurora Greenmen

2025 Record: 26-3

Coach: Sam Petrash - 9th Year

Coaching staff: Rob Kennedy, Julie Zidones, Jeff Fejes, Katie Kennedy

Key returning players: Lailah Bohanan (YSU), Lila Bultrowicz (YSU), Addison Witting, Charlotte Sorma (Lake Erie College), Abby Dalessandro

Position outlook:

Infield: Lila Bultrowicz is our lone returning starting infielder (3B). Addison Witting (SS) and Charlotte Sorma (2B) move from OF to INF. Reese Witting will see 1B action. Kerrigan Riley, Alex Kercheff and Charlie Monday could also see action.

Outfield: Lailah Bohanan (Suburban Player of the Year and First Team All State) leads the outfield and offense. Abby Dalessandro comes back after lettering her freshman year. Marissa Embrescia, Zoey Drozda, Kara Sawicki are expected to contribute with Jordyn Matousek, Tommi McGinnis and Kennedy Tate expected to see action. 

Catcher: Rachel Devenish will start behind the plate. She is a strong player who works hard and is getting better every day. Abby Dalessandro and Zoey Drozda are back up catchers.

Pitching staff: Ruby Sorma and Abbie Ferree will be our starting pitchers and both will see varsity action for the first time this year. Lailah Bohanan will also get innings. 

Season outlook / expectations: “We replace seven seniors from last year and keep the same expectations. We expect our defense to support our pitching like it did last year,” said Petrash. “We have a lot of offensive production to replace, especially from the one and two spots (96 hits, 93 runs, 69 RBI combined) but have players ready to step up and do it. This group works hard and has fun.”
