Aurora tops Cuyahoga Falls 11-2 behind 4 hits & a HR from Retton
AURORA, OH- Finally some nice weather on Wednesday evening as the Aurora Lady Greenmen hosted the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers for a Suburban League Conference matchup. With a conference title in sight, the Lady Greenmen took care of business with an 11-2 win to move to 20-1 on the season.
Lailah Bohanan was on the mound for Aurora to start this one. She started strong setting the Black Tigers down in order in the top of the 1st. The bats would get going in the bottom half as Rayna Unverferth led off with a triple. Sophie Petrash would bring her home on a sacrifice fly. With two outs Sophie Retton singled followed by a walk to Sophie Schechterman putting two on with two out. Julia Miller then brought home Retton with an RBI single. A third run would score on a wild pitch as the Greenmen took a 3-0 lead after one.

Bohanan once again retired the side in order in the top of the 2nd picking up her first strikeout. The offense would tack on two more in the bottom half. With one out, Petrash laced a double to left field. She would come around to score on a Bohanan single. Two batters later Sophie Schechterman smacked an RBI single to left driving in run number five. They led 5-0 after two.

The Black Tigers were able to get on the board in the top of the 3rd on a two-run single by Ary Sayarath cutting the Aurora lead to 5-2. Black Tigers pitcher Ash Walker held Aurora scoreless in the bottom half.
The scoring did not pick back up until the bottom of the 5th. Julia Miller singled to start the inning followed by a Lila Bultrowicz walk. Miller would advance to third on a wild pitch and score on a nicely executed sacrifice bunt by Charlotte Sorma. They would lead 6-2 after five.

Sophie Retton came on to start the top of the 6th on the mound for Aurora. She would allow a single but no damage in her first inning of work. The Greenmen then put together a big 5-run bottom half to blow it open. Petrash was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Bohanan then followed with a single up the middle. The big blow then came when Retton blasted a 1-1 pitch over the centerfield wall for a 3-run homerun. With two outs Bultrowicz, Avery Qualters and Summer Collis each singled with Bultrowicz scoring on the Collis hit. They would add one more on an infield error and lead 11-2 heading to the 7th.

Retton would retire the side in order in the top of the 7th ending the game on a strikeout to clinch win #20 on the season for the Lady Greenmen.

Retton went 4/4 with the big homerun at the plate and tossed 2 shutout innings to close out the win. Bohanan went 5 innings allowing the 2 runs and was 2/4 with an RBI at the plate.
