Streetsboro Lady Rockets hold off Ravenna 7-4
STREETSBORO, OH- On Wednesday evening Mother Nature decided to cooperate as the Streetsboro Rockets hosted a league makeup game with the Ravenna Ravens. The Rockets won the first battle on 4/18 by a score of 10-1. This one would be much closer as the Rockets would hang on for a 7-4 win to take the season series with the Ravens.
Even though the game was played in Streetsboro, the Ravens were the home squad for this one.
Olivia DeToro led off the game for the Rockets with a triple to right field against Ravens starting pitcher Whitney Holmes, who retired the next two batters on a pop out and strikeout. Hailey Miller then ripped a ball over the head of the centerfielder for a triple of her own scoring DeToro. The throw into third from the outfield got past the third baseman and Miller attempted to score. She was thrown out at the plate to end the inning. Streetsboro took a 1-0 lead.

Amy Rein took the mound for Streetsboro in the bottom half. She gave up a leadoff single to Holmes but retired the next three in order. Rockets led 1-0 after one.
Streetsboro would add another run on an error in the top of the 2nd putting them up 2-0. Ravenna would get a double by Kasey Sterba, but Rein pitched out of trouble in the bottom half. 2-0 Rockets after two.

The top of the 3rd was the difference in the game. With one out Ella Simpson singled. Miller then reached on an error by the right fielder putting two on with one out. A throwing error from third on an Amy Rein grounder scored a run. Nevaeh Monroe then reached on a third straight Ravens error bringing home another run. After Kaidence Cox brought home the third run of the inning on a ground ball force out, Olivia Knepper blooped a double to left scoring Monroe before the inning came to an end. A big four run 3rd put the Rockets up 6-0.

Ravenna would finally get on the board in the bottom half. Alivia Dailey led off with a single followed by a walk to Holmes to put two on with no outs. Rein was able to retire the next two batters on fielders choice ground ball outs, but Shyanna Dillbeck ripped a single up the middle to plate the Ravens first run. They trailed 6-1 after three.

After a scoreless top of the 4th for the Rockets, Ravenna added another run on a wild pitch to cut the Rockets lead to 6-2 after four.
Following a scoreless 5th, Streetsboro would add an insurance run. With one out Olivia DeToro was hit by a pitch. Mallorie Gierke then followed with an RBI double to the left centerfield gap making it a 7-2 ballgame.

Ravenna would answer back in the bottom half. Amiah Templeton reached on a one out single. Dailey would then reach on an error and Holmes would walk to load the bases with one out. Jocelynn Smallwood drew another walk bringing home a run. Coach Leroy Moore would then make a pitching change bringing in Sydney Burfield. She struck out Mallory Sterba for out number two. Dillbeck would bring home another run before Holmes was tagged out trying to advance to third. The Rockets held a 7-4 lead after six.
Smallwood would set the Rockets down in order in the top half of the 7th. Ravenna had one last chance, but Burfield slammed the door in the bottom half retiring the side in order, preserving the 7-4 win.

Mallorie Gierke and Hailey Miller each had a pair of hits and an RBI to lead the Rockets offense. Amy Rein started going 5.1 IP allowing 2 ER and striking out 5. Shyanna Dillbeck drove in 2 runs for the Ravens.
