Position outlook:
Infield:
Jayden Coffie- Jayden Coffie returns as a four-year letterman and a key piece of the lineup. Last season, he earned First Team All-MAC honors after batting .319 with five
doubles and 17 RBIs. A consistent presence in the field, Jayden has been a staple at third base for the program and is expected to handle the majority of the duties there
again this season. His experience and steady play make him an important leader for the team heading into the year.
Jake Szczecinski- Jake enters the season as a junior and will be a two-year letterman. A versatile player, he has the ability to play anywhere in the infield but will see
the majority of his time at first base when he isn’t on the mound. Jake had a strong season at the plate last year, batting .345, and his flexibility and production make him an
important contributor for the team this season.
Brady Long- Brady returns after earning Honorable Mention All-League honors for the second time last season as a sophomore. He had a strong year at the plate, batting
.307 with four doubles and 14 RBIs. A versatile athlete, Brady will see time in the middle infield when he isn’t pitching or playing in the outfield. His ability to contribute in
multiple roles makes him very valuable.
Colton Cox- Colton returns after earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors last season as a sophomore and is working toward earning his second varsity
letter this year. After recently undergoing shoulder surgery, the team is hopeful to have him back in the lineup soon. Colton is expected to contribute as a designated hitter and
could also see some time in the middle infield once he returns. His bat and versatility will be valuable additions as he works his way back this season.
Nate Estep- Nate is a junior and a returning letterman for the program. Unfortunately, he underwent season-ending arm surgery and will be unable to play this
spring. Nate remains an important part of the team, and we look forward to having him back healthy and ready to contribute next season.
Jadyn Dufala- Jadyn earned his first varsity letter last season as a freshman while serving as a utility player for the team. He saw most of his action in the outfield, but this
year he is expected to take over duties at shortstop. Jadyn will also contribute on the mound this season.
Bentley Mrak- Bentley is a first-time varsity player who will be competing for playing time at the corner infield positions and could also see time behind the plate at
catcher.
Mason Sanford- Mason is a freshman who is competing for a starting position at second base this season. He has a lot of potential and is also expected to contribute
some innings on the mound this year.
Braylen Motley, Aiden Ward, Jaxson Fedor- All of these guys are underclassmen and have an opportunity and potential to see some innings this year.
Outfield:
Scott Wilson- Scotty has started in center field for the past three seasons and batted .349 last year. He earned First Team All-League honors and led the team with 30
hits while also stealing 23 bases. Scotty is currently just 15 hits away from breaking the program’s all-time career hit record of 86, and he already holds the school’s career
stolen base record with 58 and counting.
Brayden Burfield- Brayden enters the season as a senior and will be competing for time in the outfield. His experience and leadership as an upperclassman will be
valuable as he works to try and earn a starting role this year.
Zaciah Cook- Zaciah is a sophomore who will be competing for a starting outfield position this season along with several other players. He is very fast and will be a
valuable asset on the base paths.
Graham Jonas- Graham is a freshman competing for one of the starting outfield spots this season. He is a big, strong player who can play multiple positions. He will
likely fit into a corner outfield role, depending on how our pitching lineup shapes up. Jack Simpson & Colton Wert- These freshmen bring strong potential and will have
the opportunity to compete for and see innings in the outfield this season.
Catcher:
Joey DeToro- Joey is a freshman and the leading candidate for the catching job this year. He is an excellent defensive player who frames pitches well and possesses a
strong arm for his age. Joey’s dedication to his craft is evident on the field—he loves putting in the extra time and embracing the grind, whether in the hitting room or the
weight room. He is also a very talented hitter.
Bentley Mrak- Bentley is a versatile utility player who could see time behind the plate this season as opportunities arise.
Pitching staff:
Scott Wilson- Scotty will be our ace on the mound this season after an outstanding year. He led the team in innings pitched (46.1), wins (5–1), and strikeouts
(54), while posting an impressive 1.36 ERA. He showed great command by allowing just 14 walks and gave up only 9 earned runs all season.
Brady Long- Brady returns with the second-most innings pitched among our returning arms from last season. He is expected to be one of our top three starters after
going 3–1 over 18.2 innings, posting an outstanding 1.12 ERA and recording 20 strikeouts.
Graham Jonas- Graham is a freshman with a very strong arm. He throws three pitches for strikes and is competing to be a starter who can eat up a lot of innings this
season. The future is bright for this young righty.
Jake Szczecinski- Jake is a pitcher we are excited about to help eat up innings this year. He has excellent control, changes speeds effectively, and can throw all three of
his pitches for strikes. He will play a more important role on the mound for us this season.
Brayden Burfield- Brayden is a senior this season and will serve as a middle reliever and/or a late-week starter. He is needed to eat up innings for the team, and we
are hoping for a big season from him.
Mason Sanford- Mason is another young arm, a freshman with a lot of potential, who has the opportunity to pitch a significant number of innings this season. We are excited about our young arms.
Jadyn Dufala- Jadyn is a sophomore who is competing for time on the mound. He throws a ton of strikes and is working to earn a role as a middle reliever and closer this season.
Zaciah Cook, Braylen Motley, Bentley Mrak, Colton Wert- All of these guys are underclassmen and have an opportunity and potential to see some innings this year.
Season outlook / expectations: “We’re very excited about the group we have this season. Although we are a young team, we believe we have a lot of talent and potential,” said Scisciani. “Our players have been working hard, and we’re hopeful that our effort and growth throughout the season will allow us to compete near the top of the league.”
