Aviators Outlast Quakers 3-1 in EBC Opener
Alliance, OH- The Alliance Aviators set out to continue their undefeated start to the season as they welcomed EBC foe Salem to town on Wednesday. The chilly temperatures put a hamper on both offenses, but it was the Aviators who mustered enough to secure the 3-1 victory.
It was the Aviators getting on the board first in the home half of the opening frame when Bo Davis grounded into a fielder’s choice, allowing DiAngelo Fisk to make it home safely. The Quakers answered in the top of the 2nd when they took advantage of an errant throw attempting to cut down a Quaker runner stealing third. The ball trickled into left field, allowing Derek Oesch to scamper home.
The Aviators broke the tie in the bottom of the 3rd when leadoff hitter Brady White smacked a double over the left fielder’s head to open the frame. DiAngelo Fisk followed suit, sending a double to left allowing White to come around to score. Fisk would later score when Pitcher Valentino Fisk helped his own cause on a sacrifice fly to right, making it 3-1 after 3 innings of play.
From there, Val Fisk settled into a groove over the next 3 innings on the mound. He would yield only 2 hits in those frames while striking out 3 of the 8 K’s he racked up on the evening. He would be lifted after yielding a lead-off walk in the top of the 7th, but Brodee Bugara came in to slam the door and give the Aviators their 6th straight victory to start the season.
The two teams are scheduled to square off tomorrow evening in Salem.
