Pirates Roll Past Champion 66-46

Palmyra, OH- The Southeast Pirates looked to extend their season opening winning streak to 4 games on Tuesday evening when they welcomed the Champion Golden Flashes to town.

The Pirates would hold the lead throughout, with the 1st quarter featuring Senior Joe Sharish leading the way with 6 points, most of which came as 2nd change opportunities following offensive rebounds he corralled. The quarter featured a buzzer beating floater off the hand of Devyn Miller, giving the hosts a 20-10 lead after the first 8 minutes.

The Pirates were able to extend their lead in the 2nd stanza, using a more balanced attack to build a 34-19 lead. At half, the leading Pirate scorers were Devyn Miller with 9, Joe Sharish and Cohen Richardson with 8 apiece.

The 3rd quarter was the best of the night for the visiting Golden Flashes, as they netted 15 points, led by leading scorer Marky Nolan who scored 6 of his 21 in the quarter. Despite the valiant effort, the deficit only shrunk by 2, as the teams headed to the 4th with the scoreboard reading 47-34.

Cohen Richardson scored 8 of his 18 in the final quarter, giving him the high point total for the Pirates. Joe Sharish ended the night with 17. The 66-46 victory moves the Pirates to 4-0 on the young season, as they turn their sites to Brookfield, who comes to town Friday evening.
