Crestwood pulls away in 4th to take down Mogadore 68-60
MANTUA, OH- Tuesday night at Crestwood High School the Red Devils welcomed in the Mogadore Wildcats for a mid-season non-league contest. Crestwood was looking for their 2nd straight win while the Wildcats looked to bounce back from a loss to Manchester. It was a tightly contested game throughout before the Red Devils were able to pull away in the 4th and secure the 68-60 win.
Crestwood would get off to a fast start in this one jumping out to a 7-0 lead after a Joel Custer layup. The Red Devils held a 9-2 lead when Noah Hopkins hit a corner three for Mogadore bringing them within four.

Evan Rhodes of the Red Devils would answer right back with a three of his own before Hopkins would score another bucket for Mogadore.

Crestwood would lead 12-7 after one quarter.
Mogadore started the 2nd quarter strong with six straight points to take their first lead at 13-12. Tyler Pendergast gave the Wildcats a big boost off the bench with 6 points in the quarter including four straight to put them up 20-16. A short time later after Crestwood had cut the deficit to a point, Hopkins would nail another three from the other corner putting the Wildcats up 25-21.

Angelo Dinardo would score inside with the foul to end the first half. He could not convert the free throw and Mogadore took a 27-26 lead into the break.

The Wildcats scored four of the first five points of the 3rd to take a 31-27 lead. Dinardo would get fouled in the act of shooting on back to back possessions knocking down all four free throws to put Crestwood back up 33-31. After an Adrian Merk three for Mogadore and a Red Devils free throw split, Colton Mayle would score five straight points giving Crestwood a 39-34 lead. Mogadore would score four of the final five points but Crestwood took a 40-38 lead into the 4th.
Jordon Smith would start the 4th getting fouled in the act of shooting on back to back possessions and hitting all four free throws to put Mogadore up 42-40. An Angelo Dinardo and-one conversion, a Crestwood free throw split and another bucket by Smith would have us tied at 44-44. Following another Smith bucket for Mogadore, play was stopped as the Red Devils Evan Rhodes was injured after hitting the back of his head off the floor. The was stopped for about 15 minutes while he was attended to and taken to the hospital. After the stoppage, the Red Devils came out with a purpose going on a 10-2 run started by a Mayle three and capped off with a Dinardo and-one conversion for a 58-48 lead.

Crestwood continued to build the lead going up by as much as 17 at 67-50. Mogadore would close the game scoring nine of the last ten points, but it was too little too late as the Red Devils pulled off the 68-60 win.
Colton Mayle led the Red Devils with 22 points, 18 of those coming in the 2nd half. Angelo Dinardo had another double/double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Jordon Smith led the Wildcats with 15 points in the loss.
Crestwood has another big home game on Friday when they host CVC rival Rootstown while Mogadore looks to bounce back at Lake Center Christian.
