Streetsboro Pulls Away in 4th Quarter En Route to 50-28 MAC Victory Over Field

Brimfield, OH- The Field Falcons welcomed Metro Athletic Conference foe Streetsboro to town Friday evening. The hosts, who honored their senior players during pregame ceremonies, looked to sweep the season series with the Rockets after a dramatic 51-50 victory when the two squared off in December.

The Rockets got out to an early lead on the back of PJ Robinson, who had 8 points in the opening quarter, including two triples. That input was enough to have the visitors ahead on the scoreboard following the opening 8 minutes of play by a score of 14-5. The Falcons opened the 2nd quarter on an 8-3 run in the first 4:17 of action. Spurring the comeback was senior Brian Fox, who hit two triples in the frame, giving him 9 first-half points to lead the way for the Falcons. His 2nd from beyond the arc came as time expired on the first half, cutting the Rockets advantage to 19-16.

The 3rd quarter featured much of the same back-and-forth nature that was on display in the 2nd quarter. Each team added 9 to their total in the quarter, paving the way to what looked to be another highly contested finish. Streetsboro seniors Ryan Roscoe and Braden Hodge had different plans, however, as each turned the offensive intensity up a notch, each netting 7 in the final stanza to run away with a contest that, for much of the evening, looked like it would come down to the final couple of possessions. Each player ended the night with 10 points, joining PJ Robinson in double figures, as Robinson led all scorers with 14. The Falcons were paced by Paxson Silveus, who finished with 11 points.

The Rockets (10-8) return to action Saturday evening as they welcome Poland Seminary to Streetsboro. The Falcons (5-14) will travel to Garrettsville to take on the G-Men on Tuesday evening.
