Ravenna offense rolls in 82-68 win over Mogadore
RAVENNA, OH- Tuesday night at James L. Coll Gymnasium the Ravenna Ravena played host to the Mogadore Wildcats in a non conference matchup. Both teams came in with losing streaks and needing a win to right the ship before tournament time. Ravenna scored early and often building a double digit lead in the 2nd and carrying it throughout as they beat Mogadore 82-68. The 82 points was a season high for the Ravens.
Mogadore would strike first on a three ball from Dylan Hartung before Ravenna rolled off three straight buckets for a 6-3 lead. The teams would exchange baskets on the next few possessions before the Ravens scored six straight for a 14-7 lead. Mogadore would get a free throw split and an Adrian Merk three before a Ladarion Askew fastbreak layup made it a 16-11 Ravens lead.

The teams scored even up the rest of the quarter that finished with a Jordan Smith and-one conversion for Mogadore.

Ravenna led 21-16 after one.
The teams would exchange buckets on the first few possessions of the 2nd quarter before Ethan McKamey hit a three for Ravenna giving them a 27-20 lead.

A few minutes later Ravenna would go on a big 12-0 run to push their lead into double digits at 41-23 led by 6 points from Askew and an and-one conversion inside for Ross.

Gavin Gardner would get the final bucket of the half for Mogadore as they trailed Ravenna 41-25 at the break.

The Ravens came out strong in the 3rd as McKamey drilled his 3rd three of the game to open the quarter. They built up an 18 point lead at 47-29 after a Blake Cutting bucket before Mogadore went on a 7-0 run to cut it to 47-36. CJ Ross would then score on a soft slam alley oop from Askew that got the home crowd hopping ending the Wildcats scoring run.

Mogadore would cut it to 11 again at 51-40 after a technical foul call on Ross as Smith hit both free throws. Ravenna would outscore the Wildcats 12-9 the rest of the quarter and lead 63-49 after three.
The 4th began with the teams exchanging scores through the first few possessions before a 7-2 Ravens run capped off by a Sean Jordan three pushed the lead up to 76-57.

Jordan Smith would answer with a three of his own to end the small run. The Wildcats senior had 9 points in the 4th quarter. Mogadore would outscore Ravenna 11-6 to finish the game but the Ravens would prevail 82-68.
CJ Ross led the way with 23 points. He now needs 47 points to reach the 1,000 career point milestone. Ladarion Askew chipped in with 18 points and Braylon Burks had 16.
Jordan Smith had a nice game for Mogadore with 22 and Gavin Gardner dropped in 20.
Ravenna travels to Coventry on Friday while the Wildcats host Waterloo on 2/10.
