Rockets Soar Past Falcons 56-31

Brimfield, OH- The Field Lady Falcons welcomed the Streetsboro Rockets to Brimfield for their Senior Night celebration. The Falcons, who feature two seniors this season, Morgan Stoicoiu and Nema McAmis, have battled all season as they go through a bit of a transition. Aside from the senior duo, no other player on varsity is older than a sophomore, with that has come growing pains.

Adding to those pains tonight was going up against one of the Metro Athletic Conference’s premier programs over the past handful of seasons. Though Naomi Benson is no longer in Rocket blue and gold, Carlee Bedford is. Bedford, a senior in her own right and set to continue her athletic and academic endeavors at Southeastern University next season, came out of the gate on fire. In the opening stanza, she deposited three triples on her way to 13 points. After the first 8 minutes, the Rockets held a 19-7 advantage.

Bedford added another 5 in the 2nd quarter, including her 4th triple on the night. Carman Marcini came off the bench for Coach Carl Singer’s Rockets and scored 4 in the quarter as the Rockets headed to the break with a 34-11 lead.

With a rather comfortable lead, Coach Singer opted to give his reserves a bit of an extended run in the 2nd half. Taking advantage of the extended playing opportunity was freshman McKenzie Montgomery, who scored 4 in the final frame.

On a bright note for the Falcons, the scoring duo of Morgan Stoicoiu and sophomore Audrey Richmond each surpassed the Falcons' single-season 3-point record. Richmond currently has 42, while Stoicoiu has 41. Entering the night, Richmond had previously tied the record at 40 while Stoicoiu entered with 39. Each made two 2nd half triples to etch their names in the Falcon record book.

The victory moves the Rockets to 15-6 while the defeat drops the Falcons to 11-10. The Rockets put a bow on their regular season on Wednesday when they travel to take on Brecksville-Broadview Heights. The Lady Falcons close out their regular season schedule at Cloverleaf on Thursday evening.
