Streetsboro rolls past Coventry behind big 3rd quarter and career high from Bodovetz
STREETSBORO, OH- It was a Metro Athletic Conference matchup in Streetsboro on Saturday afternoon where the Lady Rockets hosted the Coventry Comets. The Rockets were looking to make it two in a row after their home win over Cloverleaf while the Comets looked to bounce back from a loss to Norton. Ava Bodovetz scored 16 of her game and career high 22 points in the 3rd quarter as the Rockets rolled to a 67-22 win.
The Rockets would jump out to a 6-0 lead following a Carlee Bedford three ball.

Coventry would score the next three points before the Rockets went on an 11-2 run to close out the quarter led by 6 points from Ava Scisciani.

They would take a 17-5 lead after one.
Streetsboro would open quarter two on a 6-0 run to open up a 23-5 lead. The Comets responded with an 8-2 run led by a pair of threes from Kayla Munn cutting the deficit to 25-13. The Rockets would end the half scoring 6 of the final 8 points capped off by another Bedford three ball to take a 31-15 lead into the break.

Bedford led the way in the 1st half with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
Streetsboro ran away with the game in the 3rd. Claire Campbell hit a three early on giving the Rockets a 20 point lead at 35-15.

It was then that senior Ava Bodovetz starting her scoring run. She would score 6 straight points pushing the lead up to 41-15. The two teams would exchange baskets before she scored 6 straight points once again for a 30 point lead at 47-17. Following a Coventry free throw split and a bucket by Olvia Johnson-Wilson, Bodovetz scored on two straight possessions and made the final shot of the 3rd quarter. From the start of her scoring spree she outscored the Comets herself 16-5 as the Rockets outscored Coventry 26-5 in the quarter as a team taking a 57-20 lead after three.

Rockets coach Carl Singer was able to sit his starters for the final quarter and get some of the younger rostered players some valuable varsity playing time as a running clock began. The young Rockets outscored the Comets 10-2 in the 4th to put away the 67-22 win.
Ava Bodovetz led the Rockets with 22 points and 4 rebounds. Ava Scisciani was a key contributor off the bench with 10 points. Carlee Bedford had 8 points and 8 rebounds.
The Rockets will travel to Springfield on 1/14 before big home matchups with Norton and Northwest.
