Lady G-MEN get the bats going late as they top Windham 7-1
GARRETTSVILLE, OH- A pair of long time rivals met on Thursday evening in Garrettsville as the Garfield G-MEN hosted the Windham Bombers. The G-MEN were playing just their 2nd game in eight days. Windham looked to avenge a 16-1 loss last season to Garfield. It was a 1-run game before the Garfield offense got going late to propel them to a 7-1 win behind a complete game from freshman Ayla Kolar in her varsity debut.
Kolar would begin her varsity career with a 1-2-3 first inning finishing it off with her first varsity strikeout.

Windham was able to bring across a run in the top of the 2nd. Brielle Jones led off with a single. She was forced at 2nd on a Skylar Bailey ground out. Bailey would come around to score on a G-MEN throwing error with two outs for the first run of the game.

In the bottom half the G-MEN struck back with a pair of runs. Bella Wright reached first and took second base on an error. Diamond Dyson would bring her home with an RBI single to tie the game 1-1. Following a walk and a Payton Soltis single, Madi Seiler ripped a double off the right centerfield fence scoring Soltis. The G-MEN took a 2-1 lead after two.
In the top half of the 4th the Bombers would load the bases with one out following a single and a pair of walks. Kolar was able to work out of it forcing ground ball force outs at home plate and first base to end the threat.
It would remain a 2-1 Garfield lead until the bottom of the 5th when they would plate two more runs across. Angel Grace led off with a single before Emily Knerem ripped a ball into the left centerfield gap for a triple scoring Grace. Wright would follow with a sacrifice fly to center scoring Knerem increasing the Garfield lead to 4-1 after five.
Kolar kept the Windham offense at bay again in the 6th before her offense put up three more runs in the bottom half. Following a lead-off walk and a fly out, Kaelyn Tasker smacked an RBI double and would take third on the throw. After a walk, Charlee Hill brought home Tasker with a ground out and Knerem capped off the scoring with an RBI single to make it a 7-1 lead.

The Bombers would get a couple base runners in the 7th before Kolar closed out her complete game to earn her first varsity win.

Kolar would allow on the 1 unearned run in her 7 innings while striking out 4. Emily Knerem was 2/4 with 2 RBI. Madi Seiler and Kaelyn Tasker also chipped in 2 hits and an RBI each. Brielle Jones led Windham with 2 hits.
Both teams are back at it tomorrow as the G-MEN host Columbiana while Windham will welcome in Chalker.
