Aurora tops SVTM 7-3 in their home opener behind a big 3rd inning
AURORA, OH- After a trip to Orlando to open the first week of the season, the Aurora Greenmen were back home to host St. Vincent St. Mary in their home opener. The Greenmen were off to a 4-1 start to the season and were looking to keep it rolling. They would use a big 4-run 3rd inning to take down the Fighting Irish 7-3.
Ruby Sorma would take the mound for Aurora. After a scoreless 1st inning the Irish put two on the board in the top of the 2nd after a Savannah Whited 2-run single and led 2-0 heading to the bottom half.
The Greenmen would get one back on a Rachel Devenish homer to dead centerfield to cut the deficit to 2-1 after two.
SVSM would get that run back in the top of the 3rd on a Cameron Eckroad RBI single to push their lead to 3-1.
The bottom of the 3rd would be the turning point in this one. Ruby Sorma led off the inning by drawing a walk. She would steal 2nd base before Addison Witting popped up a bunt attempt for the first out. After a line drive out by Charlotte Sorma, the Aurora bats woke up. Lailah Bohanan would start it with an infield single driving in a run. Lila Bultrowicz would then double to left scoring Bohanan. Another run scoring double by Abby Dallesandro followed by an RBI single from Devenish gave Aurora a 5-3 lead after three.

With one on and one out in the top of the 4th, Greenmen coach Sam Petrash subbed out Ruby Sorma on the mound and went to Abbie Ferree who would get out of the inning unscathed. Aurora led 5-3 heading to the bottom half.
Aurora would tack on another run in the 4th. Addison Witting singled with one out. Charlotte Sorma followed with a single putting runners at the corners. Bohanan would send a fly ball to right for a sacrifice fly scoring Witting. The Greenmen would lead 6-3 after four.

The Greenmen would finish off their scoring in the 5th. Dallesandro led off with her 2nd double of the game. After stealing 3rd base she would score on a sacrifice fly to right by Reese Witting to put Aurora up 7-3 after five.

Abbie Ferree would finish off the Irish with two scoreless innings as the Greenmen won their home opener 7-3.
Rachel Devenish went 2/3 with a homerun and 2 RBI. Abby Dalessandro was 2/3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Lailah Bohanan drove in a pair. Abbie Ferree thew 3.2 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts.
The Greenmen will travel to Barberton on Monday for a matchup with the Magics.
