Mogadore Wildcats 2026 Baseball Preview

Team name: Mogadore Wildcats

2025 record: 3-14

Coach: Chris Williams - 3rd Season

Coaching staff: Mike Gasaway, Aaron Pendergast, John Dasco and Todd Wagner

Key returning players:
Tyler Pendergast, Maddox Smith, Jake Hopkins, Dylan Hartung, Noah Hopkins, Landen Williams

Position outlook:

Infield: 3rd Base – Tyler Pendergast, Jake Hopkins, and Jaykob Dasko will split time between there, catching, and the mound. This should be a strong position for us in the infield, with the 2 returning guys accounting for 95% of the innings at that position last year. SS – This will be a very rotational position for us this year based on pitching. Juniors Jake and Noah Hopkins along with Freshman Jaykob Dasko will see most of the action. 2nd Base – Hunter Rambler and Jax Hancock will split time here. Both are young and inexperienced at the varsity level, yet they both possess immense amounts of potential, especially defensively. 1st Base – Landen Williams is slated to start at here and will get most of the innings throughout the season, a year after earning increasing time towards the end of the season last year. We will look for him to take the next step both offensively and defensively.

Outfield: The outfield will be a mix of youth and experience. However, it will be filled with 3-4 multi-talented players to start. Senior Dylan Hartung, Junior Maddox Smith, Junior Noah Hopkins and Freshman Chase Pitts are currently in the starting rotation. All are extremely capable with the glove and have shown above average arm strength during the pre-season. Rounding out the rotation will be Freshman Blake and Luke Adorni.

Catcher: Tyler Pendergast, Jake Hopkins, Landen Williams, and Jaykob Dasco will see time behind the dish. We have a lot of experience between these 4 and should be able to command the game from behind the plate. This is position of strength for this year’s team.

Pitching staff: Maddox Smith is the proverbial #1 guy in the rotation after a great Sophomore year. Jake Hopkins, Chase Pitts, Tyler Pendergast, and Noah Hopkins will round out the staff. Some young guys that could see some innings as the season progresses are Landen Williams, Jaykob Dasco, and Jax Hancock.

Season outlook / expectations: “
This year’s opening day roster will look similar to last year. We will be a young team, with only 2 seniors this year, both with varsity experience. All six returning letterwinners started a majority of our games last year and will be counted on to be great leaders for our new guys seeing their first varsity action,” said Williams. “The experienced players we have coming back are very talented and have exceptional leadership qualities. We feel confident that their leadership will help speed up the learning curve for our young guys. Being able to get outside and play as much as possible due to the new turf infield will only help us grow as we get closer to tournament time.”

Landscaping- mowing, trimming, flower beds, gravel, mulch, leaf blowing, removal of old landscaping and planting of new landscaping, Hardscaping. Excavating- trenching, downspouts, all around excavating.
