Sharish Shines in 4-0 Southeast Season Opening Victory Over Garfield
Alliance, OH- The Southeast Pirates opened the 2026 baseball season against MVAC foe James A. Garfield. Adverse weather over the past handful of days caused a change in venue for the opener, moving from Palmyra to Alliance to play on the SportsZone baseball field, as it features a full turf infield. While the location changed, the opportunity to get out on the diamond against a familiar opponent, given the recent weather, was too good to pass up.
It was Garfield Senior Brandyn Bogucki who got the game started with a double before most folks had a chance to settle into their seats. It would be the only hit the G-Men would get until the top of the 6th when Bogucki hustled out an infield single. In between was a litany of strikeouts from the right hand of Pirate Senior hurler Joe Sharish. For the afternoon, Sharish went 6 innings, yielding only two hits, both to Bogucki, while racking up 10 strikeouts and only allowing 1 walk.
Offensively, for the Pirates, it was Cohen Richardson, Daniel Clint, and Alaunte Massrock who each collected two hits in the victory. All three also collected an RBI each, with D Mill collecting the 4th run batted in on the day.
The G-Men were able to load the bases in the 7th before Richardson was able to slam the door shut without allowing a run, finishing off the shutout that Sharish carved through the first 6 frames.
The two are set to complete their regular season series tomorrow at Garfield. First pitch is slated for 5:00.
