Roosevelt runs past Ravenna 51-17

RAVENNA, OH- It was rivalry day at Ravenna High School on Friday night as the Ravens welcomed in the Roosevelt Rough Riders for a full day of basketball. The freshman kicked it off at 2:00 PM followed by JV before the varsity girls took the floor at 5:00 PM. This one was all Roosevelt as they opened the game on a 31-0 run into the 2nd quarter and came away with the 51-17 win.

Ava Elliott opened the game with a three in her return to the lineup. A Grace Schoenberger three a few minutes later put Roosevelt up 9-0 and forced a Ravens timeout.

They would hold a 17-0 lead after one.

The Rough Riders would score the first 14 points of the 2nd quarter before a free throw split by the Ravens Miriyah Sandifer got them on the board.

Ravenna would get a three from Mackenzie Erving to close the half with the Rough Riders leading 33-4.

Lindsay Wills would open the 2nd half scoring the first two buckets for the Rough Riders sandwiched around a Jalysia Thompson score for the Ravens as Roosevelt led 37-6.

After three straight points by the Ravens, Roosevelt would end the 3rd on a 7-0 run to take a 44-9 lead into the 4th.

Both teams emptied their benches in the 4th giving young players some valuable varsity time. Roosevelt would take this one 51-17.

Lindsay Wills led the way with 12 points. Grace Schoenberger had 11 points while Claire Vandamme finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Jalysia Thompson had 4 points and 6 rebounds for Ravenna.

Roosevelt will look to keep the positive momentum going when they travel to Tallmadge on 1/7 while Ravenna looks to bounce back on 12/29 vs Niles McKinley.
